Assoc. Prof. Rumyana Kuzmanova, MD, Ph.D.

Assoc. Prof. Rumyana Nikolova Kuzmanova graduated from the Medical Academy, VMI - Sofia in 1984.

She worked successively as a doctor at the District Hospital, Samokov (1984 - 1987), a doctor at the Department of Degenerative Diseases, St. Naum Hospital, EAD (1987 - 1990), and since 1990 - a doctor at the Epilepsy Department at the Clinic for Nervous Diseases for Paroxysmal Conditions, St. Naum Hospital, EAD.

She has successively held the positions of Head of Department and Head of Clinic.

In 1991, she obtained a specialty in Nervous Diseases, VMI - Sofia in 1991.

Since 2006, she has been qualified in clinical electroencephalography, Medical University - Sofia.

Her scientific and teaching activities have been from 1987 to the present as an assistant professor in neurology (1987 - 1991), senior assistant professor (1991 - 1995), chief assistant professor (1995 - 2017), since 2017 she is an associate professor at the Department of Neurology, MF, MU - Sofia.

She is actively involved in teaching and teaching activities, teaching Bulgarian and foreign students, as well as neurology residents.

She defended her dissertation for the award of the educational and scientific degree "Doctor" in the scientific specialty "Neurology", Medical University - Sofia on the topic "Adverse drug effects during treatment with antiepileptic drugs - importance for the therapeutic approach and impact on the quality of life in patients with epilepsy" in 2015.

She has over 80 publications and scientific reports at national and international scientific forums.

She speaks German (language school), English and Russian (fluent in writing and speaking).

Assoc. Prof. Kuzmanova is a member of EAN, Bulgarian Society of Neurology, Bulgarian Society against Epilepsy, Association "Association of Movement Disorders and Multiple Sclerosis", Bulgarian Society of Headache and Pain, Bulgarian Society of EEG, EMG and Clinical Neurophysiology.
